Job Duties:
Maintain security and control of inmates to insure inmate, staff and community protection
Interpret correctional facility policy and procedure for inmates inspect the facility and inmates for proper security, health, and safety precautions
Maintain institution's record keeping system report inmate behavioral incidents to supervisors and disciplinary committee orally and in writing
Establish proper public relations with visitors to the institution
Maintain housing unit log, recording all appropriate information involved in shift activities
Write conduct and incident reports for inmate misbehavior
Special Notes:
At least 18 years of age upon appointment
Hold a valid driver's license for a minimum of two years
Less than three traffic violations in the past two years
No felony convictions without a pardon or domestic violence convictions
Pass a medical exam and fitness test
Meet firearms standards
High school diploma or equivalent

The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background and traffic violation checks on all applicants. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting.

Ability to read training, instructional, and procedural materials
Understand information on reports and forms
Clearly describe information and situations orally
Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time
Operate vehicles including: cars; vans; small trucks, with standard & manual transmissions
Communicate clearly over radio and other communication systems
Comprehend and implement verbal instructions
Tolerate criticism including, verbal, mental, and physical harassment without loss of control
Maintain work schedules
Clearly explain the intent of institution rules and regulations
Interpret rules, regulations, and policy and procedures
Observe large amounts of visual information
Identify and recognize changes in human behavior
Recognize hazardous conditions as it relates to equipment, buildings and grounds
Present information clearly in a formal proceeding
Identify and interpret non-verbal communications
Ability to physically restrain and control inmates
Demonstrate proficiency and safe handling of all DOC firearms
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers
Maintain effective work habits during a wide variety of shift assignments
Follow orders and the mission statement regardless of personal opinions
Maintain vigilance and alertness of your environment
Identify illicit drugs and the symptoms that they manifest

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
